Combinat de Circ is a space for creative encounter between six artists and a guest artistic direction. The result is an original performance, the outcome of an intensive five-day creation process held at the theatre of Ateneu Popular de 9 Barris, in Barcelona.
For its 61st edition, the Ateneu’s Circus Committee invited Anna Pascual and Wanja Kahlert to lead the artistic and aesthetic direction of the project, alongside Jorge Albuerne, Raquel Millán, Marta Bolibar, Agus Margarit, and Clara Prieto.
Based on the logic of a living laboratory, this edition proposed a research focused on the ambiguous space between scenic composition and direction, using tragedy and humour as both a starting point and a provocation to explore the limits of the human condition.
